The video starts with a prayer. Donald Trump then takes over the stage. He says that it’s his privilege to award the highest military honor to an American soldier who demonstrated exceptional courage to protect his men and defend their nation. This soldier is Staff Sergeant David Bellavia. David is the first living recipient to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery in the Iraq War.
Trump welcomes other distinguished leaders of the military as well. This includes Acting Deputy Secretary of Defense, David Norquis, Acting Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Paul Selva, Army Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley, and Sergeant Major of the Army, Daniel Dailey. He also recognized some members of the Congress, including Liz Cheney, Chris Collins, Dan Crenshaw, and Tom Reed.
Trump announces that he is joined by David’s family and eight previous Medal of Honor recipients. He then narrates the occasion that showed David’s bravery and intrepidity.
Trump says that he is also joined by five families of David’s brothers-in-arms who made the supreme sacrifice. This includes families of Sean Sims, Steven Faulkenberg, Scott Lawson, JC Matteson, and Michael Carlson. Trump says that he honors David G. Bellavia for his extraordinary courage, salutes his selfless service, and thanks him for carrying on the legacy of American valor.
The military aide then takes over the podium. He says that in the name of Congress the Medal of Honor is awarded to Staff Sergeant David G. Bellavia of United States Army. This award is given for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty on November 10, 2004, while he was serving as a squad leader in support of Operation Phantom Fury in Fallujah, Iraq.
The Medal of Honor is presented to David G. Bellavia by Donald Trump.
The video finishes with a prayer.
